Web Design and W3C Standards

Here at Sugar Websites we work hard with our web design experts to deliver high quality websites for small businesses. To make sure that your business benefits from the hard work put into your online marketing strategy, we strive to adhere to standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Meeting these standards in one of many ways our company makes sure you have an up to date web design.

The W3C sets standards for high quality web design methods used around the world. They also set the standard for proper coding used in web development. Some of you may be wondering? What is the W3C?? Or maybe you are asking yourself?Who are they to set standards for the Internet?

What is the W3C ?

The W3C was created in 1994 by Tim Berners-Lee, the man who originally developed the idea for the World Wide Web.? The mission for the W3C is to ?lead the World Wide Web to its full potential by developing protocols and guidelines that ensure the long-term growth of the Web. Below we discuss important aspects of this mission, all of which further W3C?s vision of One Web.?

The standards for the W3C is constantly changing with the advancement of modern technologies used to reach people on the Internet. Web design approaches have become much more streamlined since the beginning of the W3C. The organization is also responsible for organizing the form adopted for HTML coding.

Standardization for the World Wide Web

The standardization for the web is useful to all internet users, ensuring that websites work properly and delivers information efficiently. Many web developers who offer free websites or low cost sites, do not comply with recent W3C standards, hence the lowered prices.? They also deliver poorly planned web designs that lack usability, although this is not absolute.

Many top computer and internet companies are a part of the W3C. Some of their members include prestigious companies as well as universities such as IBM, Intel, AT&T, The Boeing Company, Microsoft, America Online, Apple, Adobe System Inc. and Stanford University.

New Community Groups for the W3C

Recently, the W3C implemented the formation of Community Groups who will cater to specific areas of web development and web design decided upon by the creators of the community group and its members. Groups can be formed by anyone after receiving a sizable number of members and approval from the W3C.

The first batch of Community Groups created by the W3C are providing a wealth of information on web design. They include Colloquial Web, Declarative 3D for the Web Architecture, ODRL Initiative, Ontology-Lexica, Semantic News, Web Education, Web Payments, and XML Performance.

The group also released a recommendation for Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) 1.1. A full breakdown of what these graphics program is and how it benefits web design, can be found here at www.W3.org.
