Night Glo Moonlight | Pets at Heart

BLUE TONGUE SKINK CARE?

im looking into getting a blue tongue skink, and already have the following, but i do not know if they are correct for a BTS:

1) 75W Sun Glo tight beam basking spot lamp (has UVA rays)
2) 75W Night Glo Neodymium moonlight lamp
3) Reptilite calcium substrate sand (100% digestible)
4) 2 thermometers
5) hide cave with one entrance
6) 10-gallon long tank w/ screen lid
7) water dish
8) WHAT ELSE DO I NEED?

I?d get rid of the sand. I prefer a substrate such as cypress mulch. Sand is dry and will cause them to have problems shedding. They can have problems shedding on their toes, which will cause the toes to fall off. Plus, they do alot of tongue flicking and the sand will get all over their tongue. They like to bury themselcves also, and it will get in their ears, eyes, and nose as well. Although calcium sand is digestible, it clumps when wet and can cause problems if they ingest too much. Get rid of it! Also, blue tongues grow very fast, and a 10 gallon aquarium is too small and won?t last long. The minimum size for an adult is a floor space of 36 by 18 inches. I own northern blue tongues, and they grow about an inch to 1 1/2 inches a month. Here?s a great website with a good caresheet:
