Big innings lift Cougars to win over Eastlake | Prep baseball, fastpitch roundup

The Bothell High baseball team scored in bunches Thursday afternoon in a 4A Kingco road game against Eastlake, winning 11-2.

The Cougars did all of their scoring in the fourth and sixth innings, plating five and six runs, respectively, to quickly put the game out of reach.

Offensively, Brett Steiner led with three hits, including a double, and two runs scored, with Samuel Lee and Rex Carlin each going 2-for-4 while scoring twice.

On the mound, Brady Mickelson went six strong innings, allowing one run while striking out five.

The win was the Cougars' fourth straight as they improved to 4-2 in league and 5-5 overall.

Vikings blank Newport

Inglemoor pitchers Gavin Harris and Ryan Caylor kept the Newport offense in check Thursday afternoon on the road, shutting out the Knights 4-0 in a league game.

The Vikings scored twice in the top of the first to take an early lead, and played add-on in the sixth, getting to Newport starter Aaron Sandefur again for a pair of runs.

Offensively, Tyler Beahan knocked in a run, and Danny Larsen went 2-for-3.

Harris went four innings, scattering five hits for the win, while Ryan Caylor pitched the back three innings for the save.

The Vikings remained in third place with in the Crown Division with the win (4-3, 6-3), a half-game behind Bothell.

Inglemoor bats come alive, rout Issaquah

The Inglemoor fastpitch squad defended their home turf well on Thursday night, shutting out visiting Issaquah 10-0.

Viking starter Bella Montoya nearly had a no-hitter, allowing just one hit while striking out six Eagles.

On offense, Shelby Johnson was a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI triple, Montoya helped her own cause with a home run as part of a 2-for-3 night and Holly Sandborg also went 2-for-3 with a double.
